Weems was the number one qualifier in Outlaw Street 10.5, with a time of 7.20 e.t. @ 195.79 mph. After that great run, the parachutes didn't deploy and the car went into the sand. It looked like the race weekend might be over. The Toy Factory Race team, sponsored by Mesa Contracting and PRW (Performance Racing Warehouse), surveyed the damage and vowed to have the car ready for the first round of elimination on Sunday. A major reason for this decision was that this was the first race attended by Toy Factory Racing's newest sponsor, PRW. In addition, Weems had been leading the points since the beginning of the season, and wanted to stay there. The Toy Factory crew worked the remainder of the day Saturday, into the wee hours of the morning on Sunday, replacing both carburetors and repairing the front end. Ron went so far as to return home to get his spare hood scoop and other parts he had at his shop. Ron Weems and the Toy Factory Race Team would like to give special thanks to Team Green owner, Danny Booker, for the use of his carburetors. Without them, the race definitely would have been over for the Toy Factory team. Special thanks also go to friends and fellow racers who gave their support with getting the car ready to race. Of course the ultimate thanks go to the Toy Factory crew, Sonny, Andy, and Craig, for their unwavering support and efforts to get the car back to it's winning ways. Weems had the event high mph @ 195.79 & his 7.201 was the event low e.t. in Outlaw Street 10.5. In the finals, Weems took the win with a 7.366 e.t. @ 185.95 mph over Slim Zeinaty's 7.477 e.t. @ 194.10 mph. Weems left the starting line first and held off the high mph of Zeinaty to capture his 3rd win of 2007 and padded his 30 point lead!!!
5/21/2007 Ron Weems has been dominant in Outlaw 10.5, winning the 1st two races of the year, he began to struggle in Vegas last month and qualified a surprising 9th at this race. On Sunday, Weems was able to mount a comeback as he returned to form with a 7.22 @ 195 MPH. In the first round Mary Baltzell could not make the call against Weems, and he ran a 7.21 at a record setting 205 MPH!!! This run had other competitors screaming that Weems had a hidden nitrous unit-(But Of Course He Didn't). In the second round Weems received yet another single and backed up his new MPH record with a 7.23 @ 204.8 MPH run. Being the consummate sportsman, Weems waited allowing Zehring's team to make repairs to their wounded bullet. When the two finally lined up, Zehring was able to take 4/100ths at the starting line and was well ahead by half-track. At the stripe, the 2006 Outlaw Champ got his first win of 2007. 4/30/2007 The buzz among the Tom's Differential Outlaw 10.5 ranks was who was going to slow down Ron Weems and the Toy Factory race team? Could Mother Nature have anything to say about the future success of the current points leader who was coming off of back-to-back wins and who had just set a new ET record of 7.08? Weems struggled all weekend only qualifying in the #5 slot with a 7.61 @ 192 MPH. In round one Weems pretty much a single when 2006 Champ Zehring had the steering wheel come off in his hands and miraculously got the Nova stopped without hitting the wall. Even after shaking the tire and peddling the car, Weems was able to run low ET of eliminations with a 7.35 @ 194 MPH. In the semis Weems who struggled at the starting line and slowed to 7.61. Strangely enough (just like the Pro Street category), the top three qualifiers in Outlaw 10.5 was out. 3/19/2007 Ron Weems and the Toy Factory Team "Dominated" the competition in Outlaw Street 10.5 with his RJ Race Cars, Pontiac Grand Am. In the final round Weems took the win over Rod Oxford and reset the E.T. record once again, running a career best of 7.082 E.T. @ 196.7 MPH. After two years in a row finishing #2 in points, Weems and the Toy Factory crew have started the 2007 season with two consecutive wins. Their ultimate goal of finishing #1 looks very promising. Weems broke the class E.T. record of 7.13, by running a 7.09 during qualifying and then going 7.082 in the final round. 2/12/2007 Ron Weems and the Toy Factory race team was the number 2 qualifier with a 7.127 e.t. @ 197.13 mph. and winning Outlaw Street 10.5 with a 7.243 e.t. @ 195.65 mph. over Rich Zehring's 7.299 e.t. @ 159.40 mph. @ The PSCA "Winter Nationals" February 9 - 11 @ LVMS Las Vegas, NV.
